My father was a Florentine statesman, ruler and the most brilliant of the Medici I was so proud of him and still am. He ruled Florence with my uncle, Giuliano until my uncle was assassinated in suspicious circumstances which led to my father gaining sole rule of Florence. My father lived a long life until he was 43 years old and that was the age he ruled to. Lorenzo wrote magnificent poetry and helped & encourage other artists. During his rule my father helped Florence to achieve great splendour for the centre of arts. Dad was born in Florence and like my grandfather & great grandfather he ruled Florence without an official title. In 1479, the Pope and the city of Naples began a war against Florence heroically that same year Lorenzo made a treaty to stop the war. My father did not tolerate opposition at home because in 1472 he brutally put down a minor revolt taking many casualties of his province. My dad didn’t have much time for me because he surrounded himself with scholars and artists, for this reason he was known as “Lorenzo the Magnificent.” My father unfortunalately neglected the bank that had earned his fortune, soon after my father tragically died the bank collapsed. My father died and that marked the end of the Golden Age in Florence. Lorenzo de Medici was buried in the Merdici Chapel
